Welcome to the “Greatest Show in the Peace!"

Here we are only a few weeks away from the 2008 "Greatest Show in the Peace”! Click for Larger View of Poster
We have some exciting events happening during this 2008 Fair.  Our cattle division has been awarded the “2008 BC Angus Gold Show,” which should bring in an additional number of Angus Cattle to compete for points and entry to the 2008 Canadian Gold Show. All cattle division winners will compete for the Supreme Bull and Supreme Female of show. These two winners will go on to the Regina Agribition in November and compete for the title of Supreme Bull and Female in North America. Nine Agriculture Fairs participate from Canada and six from the USA.  This prestigious event is by invitation only. Needless to say, we are very proud to have been selected.    Our City of Dawson Creek is having its “50th Birthday” as a city -- we plan on having a portion of the birthday celebrations as part of our event.

We are in the process of booking acts and contracts for the 2008 "Greatest Show in the Peace” and look forward to some exciting people coming to our City.

  • Kesler Rodeo Stock will be supplying our Rodeo rough stock and will be bringing along his world champion bucking horses and bulls.
  • Les MacIntyre has been contracted to be the voice of our CPRA Rodeo and World Professional Chuckwagon races.
  •  Ricky Ticky Wanchuck will be back as our Rodeo Clown and looks after the “Kids Calf Scramble” each day.
  • Miss Rodeo Canada will be with us for the Parade and rodeo grand entry Friday to Sunday.
  • “Kids Wild Horse Race” will be back by popular demand -- featured at 3:00 p.m. Friday to Sunday. If you did not see this event last year, don’t miss it….cowboys and cowgirls 7 – 12 years old competing in a wild horse race, using those mean little Shetland ponies. What a hoot! Not sure which is tougher -- the kids or the ponies!
  • Tiessen Media and the live radio broadcast of World Professional Chuckwagons are with CJDC 890 for all 12 WPCA shows, including the Calgary Stampede. The team will be broadcasting live from their booth in the Rodeo Infield during our 5 day event.
  • World Professional Chuckwagon Association has been signed for a one year contract and we are working on the next contract which will hopefully be for a three year term.
  • Graham Sisters “Trick Riding Team” are new to us this year. They will be with us for the 5 day WPCA chuckwagon event performing each day just prior to the WPCA wagons and will take part in the Parade.
  • “Picnic in the Park,” open to children 6-12 years, will happen on Sunday at noon, following the Gospel Festival. Meet at the Sound Stag and pick up your “We love kids at our Fair” ribbon, which entitles you to a free bagged lunch, then join Miss Rodeo Canada and Ricky Ticky Wanchuck rodeo clown for lunch and picture signing.
  • Jack Jackson and “Country Legends” will be back on the Sound Stage for Friday to Sunday and Jack will emcee the Gospel Festival and judge the Talent Contest.
  • Gospel Festival on Sunday brings in the talented gospel band “High Country” -- don’t miss this group who has just finished a recording session in Nashville. Your Sunday admission ticket to the Fair also comes with a free pancake breakfast from 7- 9 a.m.
  • Waterin' Hole will feature Craig Moritz country band, back by popular demand.Click here for more information
  • “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” - Friday, August 10th -- we are participating for the second year in the Canadian Professional Rodeo Assoc., World Professional Chuckwagon Assoc, and Wrangler, in a fund raiser for Breast Cancer.
